Tawhirimatea is the God of weather. When drawing Tawhirimatea I wanted to draw him without a face because Ive also found faceless characters to be mysterious and intrigueing. I later found out Tawhirimatea took his eyes out, crushed them and threw them into the sky to form the star constellation Matariki. So, this interpretation of him without eyes represents that story.
